Bertrand Russell Institutions

This School is named after Bertrand Russell one of the greatest thinkers and social activists of the modern times. He was born on 18.5.1872 and died on 14.2.1972, only a few months short of his centenary. Though born in England, he considered himself a world citizen.

He wrote several world-famous books on philosophy, mathematics, education and other social subjects. In his autobiography, he says "Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind ..................."

All his long and active life, Bertrand Russell campaigned for world peace and fought for the rights of the weak and the downtrodden. He was jailed for six months for opposing his own country's policy in the First World War (1914-18).

A profound scholar and brilliant thinker as he was, Russell's mind was always flexible and open to new ideas and differing Viewpoints. He. Celebrated diversity in thought and culture.

As an innovative educationist, Bertrand Russell stressed the importance of secular and scientific outlook. He was keen on providing an atmosphere of freedom and friendliness in educational institutions so that the students bloomed to their full intellectual, moral and physical potential.

We are proud to say that Bertrand Russell English Medium School have obtained 100% result in SSLC Board Examination 2012-13. All our students have come out with colourful grades- distinction and First Class.

The dignitaries on the dias, members of the management, the guests, dear parents, staff and students of the school it gives me immense joy to present before you the annual report of Bertrand Russell school recounting our activities and glorious achievement of the students during the academic year 2011-12. Bertrand Russell School was opened in the year 1982 and it has been passion of the founder Mr. Aboobakar Kukkady. Its mission is to impart quality education for the formation of all round development of a child. The school consists of well trained dedicated teachers. We attempt to explore our learners to the marvels of modern education. The school has excelled academically over the years. We feel proud to announce that there was a brilliant performance, cent percent result of the students of class X in S.S.LC examination board 2011. The present batch of X has been well taken care by arranging special coaching in the evening.

As an institution we are constantly engaged in an effort to prepare our learners to be future global citizens. We consistently make efforts to nurture the student's interest and creative abilities through a wide range of activities in our school.

A works shop on facilitating life skills “A teacher role" was held on 29th May by resource person Mrs. Padma Vani. Through this orientation programme our teachers could know more about the life skills, innovative activities and broad out look of a teacher to imbibe positive attitude towards life.

An Interaction programme ment to cultivate better understanding between and the school staffs held on 30th June. It provided time for informal interaction between the staff and parents of classes from LK.G to X.

The Interact club of Bertrand Russell school for the year 2012-13 was installed on 4th of August at Vidyadayinee school Surathkal. The new members took charge of the dub and the club is functioning well with a wide range of activities. Independence day was celebrated in a grand manner by hoisting the flag with the message on the importance of human values to retain countries freedom.

We are happy that our school management hosted the Taluk level volley ball tournament on 7th and 8th September. Nearly 16 school children participated in the event. The inauguration and closing ceremony was remarkable in our memory. Participants were encouraged, well taken care and winners were felicitated by the guests.

Teachers day was celebrated on 5th September. The parents and "the students of the school expressed their gratitude to the teacher in a grand manner. Teachers were honoured I different games were conducted entertainment programme was organized enthusiastically by the parents.

Free eye camp was held on 12th September by Rotary club Baikampady and Vasan eye care in our school. Massage was given on care of the eyes and many people of the locality were benefited by the camp.

To know about Gandhiji's life, his dreams and as a mark of respect to him to get freedom to our country, our school celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on 2nd of October.

In need of rights of the consumer, the consumer club Jagrathi was inaugurated on 5th of October. As a project students collected data from the shopkeepers as well as the people residing beside our school. Awareness to the people regarding the consumer goods and its quality was given .There was a good feedback from the people.

The birthday of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azadh former ex president of India, "'The national education day” was held on 11th November. Teachers of our school arranged a beautiful programme for the children on childrens day. Diwali the festival of lights was celebrated on 15th November at 6 o'clock in our school premise with lighted lamps, children had fun bursting crackers and sweets were distributed.

The students of higher primary and high school went on for a trip to Sadoo marry kingdom Kerala. Educational trip was also arranged to the Nandini milk factory Kulshekar so that students could know the advance technology used in the milk production. Children are taking active part in physical activities with the guidance of our physical trainer and students had taken part in inter school sports event.

Students have achieved prizes in Prathiba karanji held by the educational board. Folk dance of higher primary received first place in Prathiba karanji and also in dance competition held in Sharada Vidhyalaya, Kodiaibile.

We strongly feel that education should not only equip an individual with skills to earn his bread and better but also focus on human values and ultimately character formation. Indeed the stronger the foundation of school education, the greater the possibilities of progress

To conclude I would like to emphasize that as we continue our challenging journey towards excellence in education, we shall strive, seek, find and yield.

Though the means of education has changed drastically in this modern age. Parent and teachers undoubtedly play a important role in molding character and imbibe values in children and shall continue to do so. We must never forget that the modern methodology teaches to enquire. At this point a positive motivation with healthy discussion is advisable.

This is the age when there is generation gap between two brother not father and son. It is time for an attitudinal change in our approach to children’s education rather than imposing.

Children should be encouraged to cultivate the desire to learn. A healthy and friendly environment should be provided at home and schools. To facilitate the child to cultivate the desire to Involve, a teacher need to be a friend and a guide.

Rules & Regulations

  • The working days are from Monday to Saturday. Timing: Forenoon: 9.30 a.m. to 12.20 p.m. Afternoon: 12.50 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
  • Pupils are expected to come to school in time.
  • Habitual late comers will not be admitted to the class without a written note from the parents.
  • During class hours no pupil should be found loitering about.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is insisted upon.
  • Home work must be done neatly and regularly and submitted on the due date. parents must ensure that their wards do the home work regularly.
  • All are required to speak in English in the School premises.
  • No. pupil shall leave the school during working hours without the permission of the class-teacher.
  • Inattentiveness, indifference to studies, discourtesy towards staff members or any act which affects the tone and discipline of the school will be viewed seriously.
  • Bags, Books, Umbrellas,Tiffin Boxes etc. Should have a name or unclaimed properties should be brought to the office by those who have noticed them.
  • There will be 4 class Tests and Examinations in a academic year.
  • o be eligible promotion a pupil is required to obtain a minimum average of 40% marks in each subject in the six class tests and the two examinations.
